{Review} Swing by Adriana Locke

Swing by Adriana Locke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Contemporary
THEME: Romance, Humor, Sports
RECEIVED: Kindle Unlimited

BLURB:

Screw him and his perfect stats.
Sinful smirk.
Delicious body.
Lincoln Landry probably even has game-winning stamina.

I’d like to screw her and her perfect ass.
Dangerous curves.
Sweet smile.
Danielle Ashley probably even has a game-changing personality.

There’s no denying the chemistry between them. It’s so fiery, it’s undeniable. They partake in it. Enjoy it.
They really enjoy it.
Attraction is not a problem. Nor is their banter, relationship status, or habits. That’s all fine. Perfect, actually.
The problem is as tangled up as their sheets.

REVIEW:

I loved, loved the first book Sway in the Landry Family series, and Barrett stole my heart, but series I adored his brother Lincoln who is Swing, knocks it out of the park, no pun intended. Linc is hilarious and the coupled with Dani, I was loving this book from beginning to end.

Swing follows Lincoln while is recovering from a sport injury he runs into Dani, whom he has an instant attraction too. However, Dani is turned off by athletes and he main focus is on her work with the children at the hospital. These two go through a lot of ups and downs, mostly on Dani’s side since she has a lot of fears and insecurities that push her from being with Linc. But Linc is determined and has to work hard to get the girl, for the first time he meets his match.

I loved this story, the main focus is the couple but also family, the Laundry family is so loving and welcoming. The parents want their children to be happy and all Lincolns brothers and sisters like to give him a hard time but love him just the same. Of course, the romance is off the charts steamy and boy Lincoln knows how to make a girl swoon, while also being a sweetheart.

In the end I have already gone to the next book as this series and family has me hooked. Locke is a wonderful writer and I can really feel the love she has for creating each character and their journey to find their HEA.

Publication Date: October 21, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
“Six years, a complex about my freckles, a love for pastrami, and a fear of failure.
That’s what he gave me before slaughtering my heart and my faith in men.”

She’s living for herself this time.

But then she meets Jesse.

A tattoo shop owner, the green-eyed Jesse Pearce is wild with a touch of mystery. As Jesse and Avery explore Ocean City and their friendship, they’ll have a hard time drawing a line in the sand between their hearts.

When summer nights get a little more heated than either expected, they’ll have to ask themselves: Can they let go of their notions of love, or will their hearts be permanently inked by past pain?

About Lindsay Detwiler

An English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink and/or glittery, Lindsay’s the English teacher cliché; she loves cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe.

She currently lives in her hometown with her husband, Chad (her junior high sweetheart); their cats, Arya, Amelia, Alice, Marjorie, and Bob; and their Mastiff, Henry.

Lindsay’s goal with her writing is to show the power of love and the beauty of life while also instilling a true sense of realism in her work. Some reviewers have noted that her books are not the “typical romance.” With her novels coming from a place of honesty, Lindsay examines the difficult questions, looks at the tough emotions, and paints the pictures that are sometimes difficult to look at. She wants her fiction to resonate with readers as realistic, poetic, and powerful. Lindsay wants women readers to be able to say, “I see myself in that novel.” She wants to speak to the modern woman’s experience while also bringing a twist of something new and exciting. Her aim is for readers to say, “That could happen,” or “I feel like the characters are real.” That’s how she knows she’s done her job.

Lindsay’s hope is that by becoming a published author, she can inspire some of her students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. She wants them to see that any dream can be attained and publishing a novel isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

REVIEW:

I still can’t believe were already on book 7 in this series, it’s been a great ride! No pun intended. Anyways I love how all these books have been great as stand alones but also connect, I missed the last two but loved that I could did into Racer and get sucked in without being lost. Now if you all remember Remy from book three, this book focuses on his son and boy did he surpass hi father in many ways!

Racer follows Lana Heyworth who along with her brothers and father own a formula one racing company called HW Racing. Their father being ill, they wanted to give him his dream and boy those children are the best for giving him this. Anywho they need a new racer, Lana heads off to look for someone and literally runs into Racer Tate. (Love the name).

Racer is all about speed and cars, he loves the rush and Lana hopes that he is the one shes looking for. Of course their connection is intense, but being the professional she is she tries to hold all that spark back and focus on her team.

I loved everything about this story, the racing, the romance…ohh the romance. There is something about racer that will just win the readers over. Not just his charm but he’s just "real", as in not perfect, he has insecurities and it just makes him so much more likable.

Overall I loved this story, it was a great addition to the Real series and I actually learned a little about F1 racing, which I knew nothing about. Also if you loved Remy and Brooke, they are of course back and I loved seeing them again.

Excerpt:

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.

This guy has left me sort of speechless.

“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.

“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.

Oh god.

Why am I licking my lips?

It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.”

I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”

“It’s just … Lana.”

His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.

“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”

I lose my breath.

My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.

“And go where?”

“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

{Review} Dirty Filthy Rich Men by Laurelin Paige

Dirty Filthy Rich Men by Laurelin Paige
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Contemporary
THEME: Erotica, Romance
RECEIVED: Bought

BLURB:

When I met Donovan Kincaid, I knew he was rich. I didn’t know he was filthy. Truth be told, I was only trying to get his best friend to notice me.

I knew poor scholarship girls like me didn't stand a chance against guys like Weston King and Donovan Kincaid, but I was in love with his world, their world, of parties and sex and power. I knew what I wanted—I knew who I wanted—until one night, their world tried to bite me back and Donovan saved me. He saved me, and then Weston finally noticed me, and I finally learned what it was to be in their world.

And then what it was like to lose it.

Ten years later, I’ve found my way back. Back to their world. Back to him.

This time, I’m ready. I've been down this road before, and I know all the dirty, filthy ways Donovan will try and wreck me.

But it’s hard to resist. Especially when I know how much I’ll like it.

REVIEW:

I’m a big fan of Laurelin Paige’s Fixed series and kept seeing this book cover floating around my fellow reviewers must read list, it was defiantly calling my name. Seriously, I don’t know why I waited so long but I’m glad I did because I was able to read the conclusion book right after, I would of freaked out if I didn’t have the second book. I was absolutely addicted to this duet, Kincaid rocked my socks off with his dominant sexy, intense attitude and poor damaged Sabrina, that girl hit me in the feels with her roller coaster life. But damn, I must say my heart took a massive beating, the intense connection and this alpha male is nothing like I’ve read about before, he is one-of-a-kind, I hated him and loved him.

Dirty Filthy Rich Men includes the Dirty Filthy Rich Boys in the prologue, so I was happily introduced the intense college days of Kincaid and Sabrina. Sabrina had a traumatic college experience, Kincaid not only saved her but damaged her in more ways than one. Now years after their heated interaction, Sabrina’s college crush Weston King offers her a position with his company. And even though the offer comes after a passionate night together, he knows she has the experience and will power to handle the job. That is however until Sabrina comes face to face with the man who knows more about her than she knows, Donovan Kincaid.

I don’t want to give anymore away, but I can’t begin to explain the relationship of Sabrina and Donovan, it’s dirty, filthy, smoking hot, NSFW, holy smokes that just happened intense. I felt for Sabrina, who was stuck in this turmoil of emotions, she needed Donovan, needed him to make the bad memories go away, and Donovan wanted anything and everything Sabrina, but Sabrina had no clue how addicted he was to her.

Don’t get me wrong, the sexy romance is fantastic, but there is a story, this is very much character driven and both have some difficult pasts and experience that they need to heal from. But I was so hooked, the secondary characters were not only hilarious, but they all had crap going on that mixed with the leads, it was a great introduction and this is one story I couldn’t put down.
Warning, there is a cliffhanger, so thank goodness, the second book is out and it doesn’t disappoint. Make sure you brace yourself before starting this, it’s going to be a long night.

{Book Tour: Review + Giveaway} Masked by J.D. Wright

Masked (Superheroes UnderCover, #1) by J.D. Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Fantasy
THEME: Superhero, Romance
RECEIVED: Tour

BLURB:

- Turn 18 (check!)
- Register super name
- Order supersuit
- Attend superhero indoctrination
- Graduate high school
- Start kicking criminal tail

Vada Lawson can’t wait to be a superhero. Born into a family with special powers, she’s been training to fight criminals and villains her whole life. But her indoctrination into the underground super community is derailed when normals start breaking out in superpowers themselves.

Not trained to control their new abilities, the normals are frightened and vulnerable. Then their mutilated corpses begin turning up all over town. What the heck?

Somehow, with the help—and hindrance—of an annoying newly-minted super named Orion, Vada has to stop the chaos before it destroys her and everything she holds dear…and ruins her superhero debut.

No one ever said that being a superhero was easy…

REVIEW:

I’m a die-hard comic book nerd, since I was a kid I’d read anything and everything superheroes. I was so excited to read Masked and see someone’s superhero world come to life. There was a little bit of everything, the awesome world building of Cyper City, the reality that supers excited, the hero team up and a building romance.

Vada Lawsom is the lead heroine; she comes from a family of supers and pretty reminds me of the movie Sky High, which I loved. Her superhero name is Majestic and her main goal is to stop all these people who are getting superpowers somehow from a drug. When her best friends Henley gets the power of compulsion and the popular jock Nick Grayson gets telepathy, Vada knows things are starting to get out of control. But as Uncle Ben from Spiderman always says, “with great power, comes great responsibility”, and Vada has a lot on her hands.

My favorite part of course is the teaming up bits, Vada and Nick aka Orion, team up still not knowing each other’s secret identities, but are both determined to get to the bottom of things. I loved the back-story to both characters and their family dynamics, however sad Nicks is, I think his power helps him connect with the right people.

The villains, I usually love a good villain, especially when I’m surprised, however I knew Henley from the start was going to be a problem. She was not a nice friend, I really didn’t like her but that’s what I fell makes her a great people to root for to lose. However I do have a soft spot for Victor, I can’t help but love a speedster bad boy.

Overall there was a mix of young adult and new adult themes, not sure how I would categorize it but I’m leaning more to new adult. This was a great introduction to a new superhero world and fantastic characters, villains and author (new to me). I’m looking forward to more work from J.D. Wright, she is a great new find for me and her writing pulled me into the story and kept me hooked. Cant wait for the second book!
